Ordinary People being Extraordinary
I know, I know… When I talk about ordinary people developing the supposedly unteachable Feel of a world class horse person, I can feel people going “Yeah right!”, but that is EXACTLY what happens here, even with beginners. At first it happens in flashes, then more and more often, until next thing you know you’re working with your horse in a way that will knock your own socks off.

We see so many tight and tense horses almost everywhere we look, that it’s considered normal. Well it’s NOT. Horses being tight and tense absolutely and utterly IS NOT normal for them.
And it’s very sad that we see so much of upset horses that we think it is.
Those horse and rider combinations that we see that are just sheer poetry to watch, with the horse and rider in such lovely harmonious togetherness – those horses didn’t get like that by accident. And they probably weren’t trained like that by a trainer either – a trainer is “on the clock” and they don’t have the time to dive into deep and meaningful like we do. And very many of these talented and wonderful horses started out as quite “difficult”.
So what turned them into such magical companions?
Being heard. Their person KNOWING how to listen to them. Their person KNOWING how to Feel for them. Their person KNOWING something is wrong with them before you see it with your eyes. Their person KNOWING that no horse plays up or has bad behavior just because they can – there is ALWAYS a reason – and FEEL is what will tell you that reason. – and FEEL will guide you about what to do.
CAN you really teach “Feel”?

Actually, I’ve come to know her since, as passionate about all horsemanship that is done with grace and beauty and kindness for the horse. I worked my butt off to make most of the lessons short and to the point – around 4 minutes that you can read / listen /watch while you’re doing your emails. The riding seat lessons are longer (generally about 20 minutes) and when it’s time to make your riding seat so magnetic that I can’t push you out of it, I only send one of those lessons per week.
