Welcome to Day 3
Yesterday we focused on Quietening the Mind with the help of your horse. Today we will deepen that practice further as we once again sit with our horse but without any meditation audio.
Exercise Day 3
Sit with your horse or other special animal for 10 minutes without the meditation audio this time. Just outside the paddock or stable where you can see them works well for most people in these early stages. Sit quietly with your eyes closed if that’s safe, feeling inside your body with your soft ahhh eyes, allowing your attention to wander over your breathing and the way your ribs move on the out breath, noticing your heart beat and any energy moving around your body, noticing any emotions and allowing them to flow, feeling any warmth, any pulling sensations around your heart or any physical feelings such as a heightened sense of sound or smell.
When you are comfortable with that and still noticing everything that is going on inside your body, you could open your eyes, thank your horse for their support and allow yourself to be more aware of everything that you see.
Take whatever time you have, to enjoy this experience and especially take whatever time you can to appreciate feeling good – to soak it up – so that every increase in feeling better is anchored into feeling normal for you.
You are in control of your program
At the end of each 3 day series there’s a natural pause place if you or your horse need it. When I devised this program, I knew it was going to be healing for both horse and person. I had no idea how powerful it was going to be. Allowing time to process and for the body to catch up with the release of stress is one very good reason for a pause.
If you’re having a pause, I suggest you put a note on your calendar to re-start, because you sure as heck don’t want to forget and miss out! lol!
Keys to Success
1. Developing a sense of inner awareness. As you feel inside yourself with your horse or other special animal today, pay gentle attention to everything that you are feeling inside. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else – you are magnificently unique and any comparison will automatically reduce your awareness. And know that whatever you are feeling is right for you in that moment – this may help those of you who are experiencing doubts such as whether you are “doing it right”.
2. Appreciate whatever your gift of awareness is today. Don’t try and get back what you had yesterday or the day before – be aware of whatever heightened awareness you are gifted with THIS day.
3. The greatest gift we can give our horse in exchange for their support, is to help them live their lives free from routine fear and anxiety. The lovely feelings of well being that you will be experiencing today become a two way street where we escalate each other into mutual well being.
4. Every single time you find yourself enjoying these experiences with your horse, take the time to soak up the lovely feelings and appreciate them – WHILE you are still in the state of being where you are allowing your attention to be aware of everything that is happening in your body. This is the key to anchoring these good feelings into your new “normal”. This practice will escalate you into more and more layers of feeling a lightness of spirit.
