Yes the words in the picture are right, if you catch yourself frowning you’re trying too hard – and that’s one of my dry Aussie understatements. Trying too hard gets in the way of ease and effortlessness and it doesn’t work either. This work is about dumping that struggling crap, not bringing it here lol!
Remember, that each of us has our unique experience of Feel, with one or more ways of feeling stronger than others and all of us are different.
Important note:
Before we check out whether Physical Feel is part of your natural talent for feeling, be aware that if you feel reluctant or impatient or in any way crappy when you look at any of the exercises, that you may still be processing the release of tension from a previous one. Even those simple “feeling the curiosity” prompts can release tension and trigger healing.
You can come back later deliberately or the Happiness Spinning Wheel will bring it up for you.
OK, let’s rock and roll…
Let’s check out your Physical Feel, using that same thing that you care about that you worked on when we were talking about Emotional Feel a few pages ago. Today it will take 1 to 2 minutes while you’re reading it, but with just a little practice, you’ll end up able to bring it down to a split second. While you’re reading, slow down and read the following words slowly and deliberately.
Pay gentle attention to your outward breath for a few breaths.
That’s it… feel me smiling… reading sloooowwww…. and at the same time notice the way that the lower part of your ribs move on that outward breath – the way that the ribs just kind of squash the air from your lungs. And you’re not doing that on purpose, you’re just smiling a little bit and noticing for one breath…
… and another breath…
… and another breath…
Still with your gentle attention on your outward breath, notice what changes on the inside of you when you smile with your eyes just a little. Ahhh you can still feel the difference hey? Just notice the effect of that smileyness for a breath.
… and another breath…
… and another breath…
Just noticing and curiosity again.
Now think about that thing that you care about and notice what changes in your body.
Smiling a little on that outward breath, just curious about whatever changes within your body as you’re thinking about this thing that you care about.
You’re already open to the idea that what you’re feeling may or may not be yours. You might not know this as a truth yet, but you’ve already been curious as to whether that’s true or not.
You already have the Magic Questions tucked in the back of your mind. Curiosity about “Whose feeling is it? What do I need to know or do about it? And has it all gone yet?” is all you need, to start moving through this change place.
Smiling a little and noticing that outward breath…
and another…
… notice any changes in your breathing and be curious about “whose is it and what do I need to know or do about that change in my breathing?” Just the curiosity, not the answer. The answers and understanding will flow from the curiosity itself.
Smiling a little and still noticing that outward breath…
… as you notice any tension in your body and be curious about “whose tension is that and what do I need to know or do about it?” Again, just the curiosity about the tension. The answer and understanding will flow from the curiosity itself.
Still smiling a little and noticing that outward breath…
… notice any discomfort in your body and be curious about “whose discomfort is it and what do I need to know or do about it?” Again, just the curiosity about the discomfort, not the answer because the answer and understanding will flow from the curiosity itself.
Ahhhh and smiling for just another breath…
… and another breath…
… and another…
Congratulations, you’ve just made a start on understanding your connection to others through your Physical Feel.
When you’ve finished being curious about each feeling that’s come up, have a wriggle and a stretch and a walk around the room, feeling the way that your feet are flexing through their whole range of motion as you walk. You might think this exercise was too simple and short to be powerful, but don’t be surprised if you hear the sound of joints realigning and keep your mind open to notice what changes around you now and over the next few days!
Also, don’t forget to drink plenty of water to help your body flush the … call it toxins… that are the physical expression of that old tension in our muscles. If you find yourself headachy, it’s likely to be a need for even more water.
I’ve opened up the comments for this page.
I’ve opened up comments for this page so you can share your experience with other folk who are experiencing this book too. If anything comes up that you have a question about, you can either ask me here in the comments or come join one of our free seminars – I’ve put a link here.
Today’s photo of Star was sent in by my much-loved and incredibly heart centered friend, staff member and mentor Caroline Schillig from Portugal. “Allowing” is one of Caroline’s favorite, soft feeling words when it comes to the messages from our soul. Even the blurriness of this old photo is appropriate since Star is a spirit horse now.

Oh Jenny, I just had an amazing experience with both my horses. I went out to them consciously paying attention to myself and trying to feel for my QH, my riding horse. I felt a distinct tenseness from him so I breathed and asked why and the thoughts that came to my mind was of being over critical- me to my horse and my parents to me. I walked over near him apologising in my mind and deciding to be aware of this tendency towards him. He nickered to me so loudly and walked to me and stood closely and yawned and yawned. He touched his mouth gently to my forearm and so so slowly pinched me with his front teeth. No bruise or blood just a pinch and let go. He yawned over and over until my other horse, TB, came over and they had a little discussion about who was going to stand closer to me – not violent. TB started to engage with me so I started to breathe and do Q.M. and 2 different falls I had as a child, pre horse riding, came to mind. I was badly winded in both falls. I took my attention back to my body and noticed that I don’t put much weight in my heels and while I was trying to find that right balance and trying to correct my posture from doing that tiny lean forward my TB yawned a few times. We stood close together quietly and he moved to breathe on my back while I played with tipping a little forwards and backwards to find that good balance. TB moved away a little so QH could come back. QH again yawned and put his mouth on my arm, no pinch this time but a definite pressure. I’m not sure what or if that means something but will definitely be aware of it. Whether my horses’ part in this experience was real or imagined it still gave me the thoughts I had and an understanding of why I struggle with some things. Thank you
Holy snapping turtles woohoo to you and the horses!
So so beautiful.
Hi,
I noticed my breath got shaky and uneven, then my eyes stopped smiling and tensed up, along with my face.
First thought was it was everybody else’s issue with them not wanting me to take risks and play it safe.
Then I realised it was also me wanting to please them and so not listen to myself. It was me doing it to me, based on their fears.
Then I imagined me taking those risks and doing what I want and the tension went. But a little crept back on my left eye and I thought it is not risk for risk’s sake but listening to me.
Gone.
Oooo Andrew – I wonder if you realize how special it is, to watch / read someone bring to fruition the breakthroughs I’d envisaged while I was writing? That is so beautiful, I’m a bit teary! BIIIGGGG hugs!
