I’m looking for expressions of interest from older riders in a nice, slow, on-line clinic over 12 weeks that is designed to get you back in the saddle safely, with a rich feeling of connection with your horse.  Once you and your horse are feeling deep down to the bones safe… the joy arrives without having to do anything special to get it, the confidence arrives, the fun shows up – the good stuff starts to flow.  Safe is a unique individual feeling.  This clinic is a recognition of the reality that safety looks different as we get older.
You won’t even be getting on your horse until…
This is an individually mentored clinic, with tasks and lessons chosen specifically for you and your horse’s individual circumstances – always with the priority being your confidence and safety.  You won’t even be getting on that horse until you’re glowing with confidence in you and your horse’s ability to look after each other.  So there’s lessons in helping your horse too, to understand their part in that.
Specially for those who aren’t riding at all at the moment, we’ll include re-connecting with your body – how it moves, how it balances, re-gaining a certain amount of athleticism that will probably be quite different from when we were younger – finding the bits that are important to us and smiling as we let the rest go.  Understanding that our reactions are at least a bit slower and discovering the joy of a horse who is not only willing to pick up that slack, but loves us and what WE bring to this partnership.
On the horse side, what do they have to be able to bring to the partnership?  We have to know that if something scarey or exciting happens when we’re on their back, that they can mentally and physically stay with us and that they want to.  Ha!  I have a vision of my horse in the bad old days, “exiting stage left”.  Do you have that expression in your country?  It’s about doing their darnedest to get away – and how that would often end in fright or tears.
Well no more.
That kind of fright and upset is simply unacceptable when we get older AND it’s not what we got into horses for AND it sure as heck isn’t why we’re with them now.  We can systematically prepare our horse so that they CAN look after us, so that we CAN keep each other being and feeling safe.  We mentors will choose the right lessons and steer you in the right direction for you and your horse to do that.
Wise women of a certain age get what’s important in life and that it’s about feeling good.  Life’s too short to be struggling with feeling crappy.  And THAT folks is our particular expertise – the glorious spill over of feeling good with our horses spilling over into the rest of our lives. We teachers were talking this morning about how when we started this journey, we had no idea how big a deal that was and how far we can take that if we want to.
Like all our work here, this clinic is for people who want to be gentle with their horse and are ready for an openhearted way of doing things differently. Â The thing that I most enjoy, is working with people who are ready to work on themselves, because THAT is the fastest path to being really good with a horse at any age…
The clinic itself is a private one for each of you, but when it’s finished you can be part of a wonderful, warm community of like-minded people supporting each other on a student only forum who regularly get together live to expand their experience.
It’s not going to be a cheap clinic – just saying that up front. There’s a LOT of work on our side, but as usual, it will be a phenomenal, gloriously life changing value for money. I’m also working on an even slower version for those who are still going out every day to jobs – where you could slow down that 12 weeks over a longer period if you wanted to.
Email me to express your interest – there’s only 10 places for the 12 week version.
Today’s photo: I chose a heart beat picture for all that heart means when we’re with horses and it was also about the beautiful light at the end of the tunnel. This bright photo was jarring for such a beautiful subject, so I switched to a softer heartbeat for the heading. But THIS photo is off the album that I’ve been rocking to while I’ve been writing this post. Whoever can guess what music album THIS heartbeat picture comes off, can have a free 21 Days to a Quiet Mind – for yourself or as a gift to someone else. I’ll do warmer / colder hints. Put your questions and comments in the comments! And let’s rock! lol!

I found this amaaaazing comment on the youtube of Pink Flloyd’s Shine on you Crazy Diamond that I want to share. A Zen master indeed – BUT the zen you can find in this ammmaaazing music can be found on the back of a horse…
I dare you…

Obviously we all know David Gilmour has used the less is more approach to playing guitar and perfected it. Every note in the perfect place at the perfect time. Nothing wasted. Every riff and solo planned with maximum diligence and executed flawlessly. The careful observer will have also noted DG always dresses very modestly in black or dark colors. As if to not be seen. And he is totally reserved at all times. No flashy gestures or flourishes. And then in direct contrast to all of this, he holds his signature fiery red Stratocaster, as flashy as they come. Sometimes you can only hear what a person is telling you by listening to what they are not saying. Any person doing all of these things is doing so very deliberately, as all of these things are the product of someone who is in a state of Zen. Dressed to minimize any attention drawn upon himself his ego is in check. Reserved in his movements and expressions at all times, the same approach is applied to his stage presence as his playing style. Every detail planned and carried out to perfection. Everything in just the right time and place. The flashy guitar to help his audience meet his singular focus. Focus on the music being played not the man playing it. All efforts go into the music. All else is irrelevant. And from where else but a state of total Zen could you hone your craft to a level where you are so at one with your instrument you are performing what is effectively sorcery on those who hear you play. You know the truth of this if you’ve made a lap around the universe flying boundleasly through spacetime without ever leaving your chair as you listen to the solo from Time. Or if you’ve had the most peculuar feeling as you are sad happy nostalgic anxious and relaxed all at the same time. Guitar noises are not supposed to be able to do that. So now all there is left to do is to see it all the way through. But to be the best of all time is one hell of a climb. A man with a guitar can go very far, but you’ll arrive no faster than when you put a Stratocaster in the hands of the Zenmaster

I see we’ve got a bunch of old.er rockers here and I wasn’t being subtle at all lol! OK Brad, Kathy and Sue – you’ve all won yourselves a 21 Days to a Quiet Mind. Email me with who you’d like to gift itself to – yourself or another. This is a song from a LONG time ago, that is still for our times. About fear and for our times and not trusting the government

And another one with lyrics even more appropriate for this post. I’m still rocking this morning!
We’re just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl
Year after year
Running over the same old ground
And how we found
The same old fears
Wish you were here
If you’re tired of running over the same old ground – we wish you were here…

This clinic sounds like a great idea, Jenny. I know a couple of older riders for whom confidence is a challenge.
I know there are times when my confidence flutters around horses and I don’t ride. 🙂
I’m thinking the heartbeat graphic might be from a classic album which has something to do with an object in the night sky by a band who sang about making a wall of bricks.

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds? lol! Definitely hot…
