Did you ever dream of being that little boy in the Black Stallion movie? Galloping that magnificent horse along the beach to the sound of the waves and the music, with arms thrust out wide – heart and face lifted to the joy of it? Did you realize that it’s not the black stallion that you really yearn for? And that it’s not really even the galloping on the beach? That it’s the FEELING of sheer joy – the freedom of it that we’re really looking for?
Putting this black stallion photo up on the front of my new website, reminds me of that – and my wish is that every time you see it, that it reminds you of what’s important to you too – whatever that may be.
It reminds me about enjoying the journey – about finding that sheer joy on the journey itself. It’s a subject dear to my own heart, because in the past, I sooo… did not enjoy the journey. I thought I would be happy when this happened or when that goal was reached or when I got a better job or had more money – whatever.
In terms of horses, it was that I would be happy when my horse was better trained, when he was behaving himself, or when we had a saddle with a better fit so he’d be a better ride, when I had that new horse trailer to get my horse out and about, that new clinic might just do the trick, even the farm where if only I could have my horse at home, we would be happy – you get the drift. That extra happiness was always in the future.
Oh dear… I would almost feel sorry for that old self, except that she led me to this new self.
Finding that happiness, that joy, that peacefulness, that contentment, that confidence in each other… NOW… and carrying that forward into the journey itself – THAT’s what we’re all about here.
Peacefulness, contentment, confidence in each other… JOY… NOW… And carry it forward into the future… that’s what YOU can find too, when you be and work with a horse from this place of deep open-hearted connection.
Ordinary people being extraordinary.
Have fun exploring the new website. I’m so proud of what we’ve built here – not just the website, although I’m proud of that too – but I’m most proud for – and proud of – the absolutely beautiful community of people that has built up around this way of being with horses – and I’m deeply thankful to every single one of you.
