Mannn… I can just hear some people reading some of my blogs and saying to themselves, “What the…?” The trouble is, there’s no fairies down the bottom of my garden as Sue said in one of her posts. I figure the more ordinary people’s stories that I bring you, the more you read their comments on my blogs, the more it will sink in about what kind of healing is REALLY possible – that is not magic at all… 🙂
Here’s just one of those stories from Clara in the Yukon, Alaska, pictured here in Australia on my Magic. (Yep, this is the same lady that I was working with when we discovered the holy grail of dressage riders.)
Magic is the steel vaulting horse simulator that I had built, to learn to flip up onto Bobby. I’d tried flipping onto Bobby once and managed to struggle up there onto his back, but I kicked him in the side on the way up and smart horse, he wouldn’t let me do it again. 🙂 So I had Magic built to practice on – a 44 gallon drum covered in carpet, with handles, on 4 very stable and adjustable legs, built to vaulting horse specifications.
We’ll start with Clara’s story of some healing that happened, that she posted on a blog way back in 2004, then – even more importantly – we’ll talk about HOW this kind of stuff happens.
Hi Jenny
I have been thinking hard about what happened to me on Magic….and I don’t know….But I will give a little background.
I arrived at the fast train station to visit Jenny for a week. My husband and I had traveled 36 hours to save 500$ on China Air to get to New Zealand ( 12 hours direct from Vancouver B.C. Canada)–then a 10 hour round trip to see friends briefly in Palmerston North N. Z. then a 5 hour flight to Australia and a ? long trip on the fast train. I could hardly walk, let alone stand up straight.
Next day I met Magic. and Magic he was. I had to lift my leg up over the saddle to mount from the mounting block. We talked of many things…I can’t remember that part. and we did this over the next few days.
One day at the end of my session, I dismounted. Jenny said “Do you know what you just did?” I had no idea…she told me I dismounted like a normal person instead of clinging to Magic and gradually getting my leg over and back with two feet on the mounting block.
Wow…I had not done that for some years.
Seems every time I get tossed off, I land on my right hip. That happened again last fall when I allowed Bob to pressure me into asking my horse to do something I KNEW I should not–the Not Quite Rights were screaming at me. Anyhow, I ignored them and it was all too much for Blessing. She had no where to go but up and then bucked. Bob was blocking her in front and the big tractor she had never been introduced to was still running beside her. long and short. I went off on my head and then hip. That was the end of that. And my hip problems started up again….lots of visits to the chiro and doc.
But when I began to recall my visit to Jenny and what I could possibly write here for you, it was amazing. The feeling I had while on Magic came back to me and my hip pain disappeared. I have found that if it returns, I go to a quiet mind and seek that feeling again and the pain leaves. What a gift you gave me and my horses Jenny.
Thank you thank you thank you! Also smartened me up to pay attention to my Not Quite Right’s . Amazing!
Back to Jenny:
(Not Quite Rights are the early warning signal that something is Not Quite Right that we talk about in the 9 Keys to Happiness with Your Horse.)
Clara did an amazing job on her visit here to us. Using Magic the vaulting horse as the pathway, she dropped / released years of accidents and tension that had her re-gaining a much more youthful and very connected riding seat AND re-gained her ability to get on and off her horse properly again.
She would have been forgiven for thinking that all these stiffnesses and difficulties were “just” the result of getting older – but like most of us older folks working like this, she was able to re-gain a lot of muscle and joint mobility – with exactly the same work that we use to get a better riding seat.
WHY does so much healing take place on Magic?
Hang around here long enough and you’re going to hear this a lot, in many different ways… Emotional stress causes physical tension that adversely affects the muscles, which adversely affects the way we carry our bodies in movement, which adversely affects our joints as they are impacted in ways that cause damage to the joints. The tension in the muscles also eventually affects our organs, through those energy lines, the meridians that Chinese taught us about.
So there’s a lot of very physical crap that happens from emotional stress.
When we remove the emotional stress – understand it, release it, understand how we managed it back then the best we could, but also get how we’d change that NOW with our horse and for the future – maybe understand what REALLY happened, (all of these things happen on Magic the metal vaulting horse) – when we remove the emotional stress, the REVERSE happens and the physical symptoms start disappearing.
And THAT’s what’s happening on Magic AND in our clinics AND on our Fast Track program AND on our student Live Seminars that we do monthly. People are doing things like understanding WHY an old accident happened, HOW they can make themselves safe for the future and the physical side of the stress and tension just drops away as the emotional releases. So it LOOKS like magic, but it’s not really – it’s VERY practical and within the reach of EVERYONE.
The medical model and its limitations
The medical model pays little to no attention to posture and the way we carry our bodies both at rest and in movement and it pays little to no attention to the emotional stresses apart from drugs to shut your brain and your feelings up. (Which does nothing for releasing the physical effects of those stresses and tensions and very often makes them worse.) So medically trained doctors and vets think that a whole heap of stuff is incurable because they are not paying attention to the actual root cause, like we do.
So how did Clara trigger healing of the damage from a new fall with her memories of what it felt like on Magic when she was visiting here? Because in the week that she was here, she established neural pathways for understanding falls and healing from those falls and in her memories she re-triggered those neural pathways.
Simple… and not magic at all… 🙂
We joke about magic happens on Magic, but it’s not magic really. I can talk you through getting the same results on your kitchen chair from the other side of the world.
