I remember a very famous horseman telling us that “you can’t bake a cake twice” – that you could turn it into something different, but you couldn’t fix a horse who’d been stuffed up.
I am thrilled to tell you that he was wrong. Not only can you “unstuff” them, with Release Re-Learn and Re-Program, but you don’t need to be an expert. You don’t have to push through their tension to try and teach them something new (which really only adds more tension), you can literally unwind the stressful ways they’ve been taught in the past and have them re-learn it. Many of the joyful experiences you’ve been reading about here are because of this lovely, simple formula. This speeds up learning together phenomenally.
We also have story after story after story of the incredible healing that takes place when you use Feel for your horse to help them feel safe combined with our Release Re-Learn and Re-Program process.
Release
We’ve discovered a simple process that anyone can use to Release even very old stresses, even very old traumas, using the two way communication of your Feel. (You’ll see Oliver’s story about releasing his horse version of PTSD below.) There’s two ways in which stress affects our horse’s ability to heal themselves the way they were designed:
- When stress itself is the root cause of the health problem and I suspect you wouldn’t believe how often that’s the case!
- When an old stress is blocking the body’s ability heal an injury from an accident for example. That too would surprise you how often that’s the case.
Our ability to help them Release those old stresses and traumas steps our horse into a powerful healing that even people with no previous healing experience can facilitate.
For some horses who’ve had really shitful lives where EVERYthing was “trained ” in stress and trauma, this Release of stress is so powerful it can even take them back to being baby horses who know nothing. Mannn this is a joyful thing to be a part of!
Re-Learn
Once the Release has happened, we’re able to re-teach whatever this is, in the gentle and considerate way it could have been taught in the first place, using the two way communication of our Feel to much more easily understand each other. Gentle does not mean creeping around them trying to be quiet either – that wouldn’t serve them or us at all.
I was taught that it’s repetition that teaches something new. Well that’s turned out to be a load of crap too. Horses learn so quickly when they’re not under stress and the tension that goes with it. They’re curious and engaged and once they’ve developed confidence in us they’ll even actively co-operate in seeking the learning together. Mannn I’ve experienced myself and seen others do some gorgeeou stuff with horses that are in that head space.
I’m telling you with a big smile on my face as I’m writing, that when you step into this way of being with your horse you’ll understand all those folk around here who are talking about the joy they experience with their horse in all kinds of situations.
Re-Program
We’ve discovered a simple (again simple!) way to re-program the neural pathways of the horse’s brain and their muscle memory – just like we can do with our own learning. It’s a whopping shortcut that gets us where we want to go much faster.
Once you’ve learned how to do it with Feel, the combination of Release Re-Learn and Re-Program means that you only need to teach something once. Far out hey?
Here’s some examples of dramatic healing from within our community.
Let’s start with Pye because we have some before and after footage of him.

Badly damaged backs like Pye in the photo here are considered impossible to heal, but you’ll see the transformation for yourself in the video below. Warning: I needed a tissue when I watched this for the first time, but then I cry happy tears easily!
Mel was on the Fast Track program – about half way through I think – when she did the online clinic that produced these results.
Please note:
- Pye had no muscular skeletal work done whatsoever. This transformation was through the release of stress and tension with our Release Re-Learn and Re-Program process, prompted by monumental changes in Mel. Back then she ran a private rescue organization.
Sandra’s Milly had life threatening repeated colics with significant sacro-iliac damage – fixed.
These photos were taken 10 weeks apart. As Sandra said at the time, they were still a work in progress, but mannn… the healing that happened was clearly spectacular.

The vet had told Sandra it was time to put Milly down with these repeated and very severe colic attacks, when Sandra was drawn to bring her into a “healing your horse’s back” clinic that we held on-line.
Sandra was already a skilled and kind rider, she lived on an outback cattle station and working horses were part of her living. Like Pye and Melanie, it wasn’t chiropractic and muscle treatments that produced these results.
So how did Sandra facilitate that healing in Milly?
You’ll hear me repeatedly talking about how emotional stress causes tension that causes muscular problems that cause posture problems that cause joint problems and that dis-ease – organs not being at ease in the body – is the result.
The spine itself is central to all the organs of the body, with each individual vertebra directly affecting the health (or ill health) of an organ, so the posture problems originating in emotional stress can have far reaching consequences into the organs themselves. In Milly’s case, as she found a new level of connection and a deeper understanding with Sandra, she released physical problems in her withers that had a direct impact on her digestive system and changed her posture at the same time. She’s never had colic since.
What they had learned to do was to reverse that whole stress leads to tension leads to posture problems leads to physical problems, by RELEASING the old emotional stresses and bringing the whole mind, body and spirit back into a state of well being.
Release Re-Learn and Re-Program was part of Milly’s healing, as was Sandra’s Feel which by then was superb. This physical change in Milly happened when she and Milly changed together in a monumental ahhaa moment where Sandra experienced a great expansion of consciousness and happiness into her life and Milly released a stack of old stresses and tensions that triggered a profound healing.
It takes a commitment to feeling good together.
This is utterly unique work that you simply can’t get anywhere else. It takes a commitment to to your horse, but it’s a commitment to feeling good together that’s filled with joy for both horse and rider. And after all, isn’t happiness with our horse what we’re looking before even our other horse goals? There’s a double world champion on this blog talking about how empty her championships were and that the relief, confidence and joyfulness in this work was bigger.
Outside of our programs, I’ve only come across a handful of people who truly understand the possibilities of riding a horse to healing and here it is, within the each of everyone…
That’s just horses back problems that I’ve talked about so far, I could go on and on for hours. Arthritis, bone growths, mysterious and expensive lamenesses, sacro-iliac joint and other back problems, kissing spine like Pye’s, immune system problems, reversing the muscular skeletal damage of stringhalt, bringing a horse back into beautiful movement from recurring laminitis, Cushings disease – all these conditions and many more, are only considered unfixable because they are not taking the TOTAL well-being of the horse into consideration.
It’s not just their bodies that heal, it’s their minds too.
I’ve got just one more to talk about individually – our Oliver who suffered from what I can only describe as a horse version of PTSD.

Oliver was transformed from a dangerous horse
with “a screw loose” that turned out to be
a horse version of PTSD, into the giant teddy
bear that he is today.
I’d started communicating with Oliver before he even arrived here. That’s a whole beautiful story for another day though. He’d been desperate to be understood and very quickly slipped into the two way communication and co-operation that happens when you’re using your Feel. He had been steadily RELEASING his fears, anxieties and tensions with us, RE-LEARNING a relaxed way of being with people happily and RE-PROGRAMMING that relaxation as a new normal way of being with people. He quite quickly got rid of almost all the behavior that had prompted his owner give him to me.
But he still had this PTSD type response that had him on rare occasions suddenly flip out and run over the top of someone in a terror that was not remotely proportional to what was happening. He once went from humming with happiness with me to that terror in the tiniest fraction of a split second, over the tinkle of a belly strap. He absolutely flattened me as he ran right over the top of me. And man it hurt. I felt like he was as shocked and appalled as I was. It created a determination in both of us, to get to the bottom of it.
We were privileged to film the Release facilitated by Steve and I, under Sue McKibbin’s guidance (she was the one who knew the bandaging technique we used) helping Oliver release the last layer of that PTSD that he showed us had been put into him minutes after his birth. The part that makes me a bit teary to think about is how he was actively seeking his own healing. That video footage is now a lesson in our Fast Track program.
The PTSD that had made him so randomly incredibly dangerous, was just gone and I had a giant, big hearted teddy bear that was his natural state of being. I still remember the first time afterwards that he got a fright when I was on the wrong side of him. I FELT him look for me in that fraction of a split second of his fright and he jumped away from it without running me over. I was so proud for him!
If you already know us and know what that you want this kind of mental, emotional and physical healing for your horse, start with Fast Track at the bottom of the page. Aspects of Pye and Milly’s clinic 8 years ago and Oliver’s lessons have been incorporated into the new Fast Track. But if you haven’t met us before, you might like to start with an experience of our FREE Live Seminars and get a taste of how we work. There’s a link for that below our Fast Track page.
