The complexity of this symbol can cause unnecessary anxiety in some people.
Diane Stern in Essential Reiki says
I have been shown an interesting variety of Reiki symbol drawings, particularly of the Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen. All of the versions work – or as I think more likely… the reiki guides alter all of the symbols to work. Intent is highly important in using the symbols.
The Reiki guides want this healing to manifest in every way possible on the Earthplane at this time. They help to make it happen in every way they can. If you have drawn a symbol wrong, don’t start over – they will fix it. Do not however, use this as an excuse to memorize them sloppily. The guides do not tolerate laziness, but they gladly support honest effort.
In other words, relax. Imprint the Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen the way that we do it here and it will work whether you can remember how to physically draw it or not.
Like all the other symbols, once you have imprinted Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen on your conscious mind and it has become smooth and easy to draw and is familiar, you can “send it whole” in healing. Simply say the words Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen (Hon Shar Zay Show Nen) in your mind and visualize the symbol as clearly as happens for you. Notice that I said “as clearly as happens for you”. There is no “wrong” in Reiki.
You can draw the symbol in the air or visualize it in front of someone, in their aura, OR you can draw or visualize the symbol on someone’s body generally, with the intent that it go where needed OR you may be drawn to a particular part of their body to place the symbol either by drawing it or visualizing it. You may also draw or visualize it on your own hand and then place that hand on the person’s or animal’s body with the intent that they “Open the book of life and now read”.
Just imagine the power of that – that understanding anything and everything, could be as simple as “opening the book of Life and reading”. 🙂
Imprinting the Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen
Print the symbol above, or put a piece of paper over the computer screen and use it to trace the symbol onto the paper, or copy each stroke meticulously onto paper.
And then draw the symbol repeatedly, feeling inside yourself for each stroke of your pen or finger or movement of drawing the symbol with the palm of your hand. FEEL each stroke of the symbol inside you – you are looking for each stroke of the pen or finger or palm of your hand to FEEL GOOD.
And if something doesn’t feel good, then pause, soften your eyes and smile a little, knowing that there is just something to understand – and decide to understand it. Get that insight (or know that the understanding WILL come in good time) then repeat that stroke until it DOES feel good. Then add it to the sequence from the beginning of the symbol.
And if any problem persists, then let me know and we’ll attend to it in your attunement. And, like with the Sei He Ki, I am not expecting any problems, it’s just Murphy’s Law to be prepared. 🙂
