Reiki Level 2 Lesson 2 – More about the Cho Ku Rei

The traditional Cho Ku Rei is drawn anti-clockwise like in the first picture that I gave you in Level One, although some people prefer the clockwise drawing of the second picture.

I’ve done some research to find out why there’s two different versions beyond the possibility of someone being left handed.  Both my research and my own meditations on the matter tell me that it simply doesn’t matter which way that you draw it – it’s your intention that matters.

One direction of drawing your Cho Ku Rei is going to be about the prayer “Place the power of the Universe here” and of INCREASING something – increasing energy, increasing understanding, increase whatever – and the other direction is going to be about dispersing something – dissolving it, breaking it up, melting it away.

Diane Stern talked in her book Reiki Essentials about how she was drawn to use her dispersing direction when she was working on a tumour, to break up and dissolve the tumour. And I used my dispersing direction of Cho Ku Rei to help a a very nice but desperate bloke unwind persistent negative thoughts.

Take your attention inside yourself – notice the way that the lower part of your ribs move with your outward breath, feel for your heartbeat if that works for you, feel the energy moving in your body if that’s your thing, be aware of and allow your emotions, your thoughts and ideas to just flow all the way to the gold at the bottom of them, allow your attention to expand to an awareness of your whole body and all the things that you are feeling in your body…

And FEEL into each of these symbols as you draw them – one “placing the Power of the Universe here”, the other direction dispersing, dissolving, breaking down, melting away, unwinding.
