We tend to think of animal communication as some mysterious thing where you “hear” the voice of the animal – whereas that’s only a fraction of how animals communicate and EVERYone can be good at animal communication when they use the natural talents that are their OWN unique Inner Guidance system.
I like to remind people that each human / animal connection is unique. The way you hear / feel your horse for example will be different to how I hear / feel them.
As you’re reading about these five ways of feeling that I’ve taken from the on line book Holy Shit is That Really True? allow yourself to be curious about which ways of feeling are part of YOUR unique natural talent to feel your animal.
And SMILE at every bit of noticing!
When Mental Feel is part of our natural talent, we’ll experience our communication with our animal in the thoughts and ideas that are characteristic of this way of feeling. Those thoughts and ideas will have an expansive feeling of RIGHTNESS.
The other side of Mental Feel – the worrying that can stop us sleeping at night or the brain in overwhelm that’s thinking thinking thinking and just won’t shut up AND the sheer negativity of our thoughts sometimes – that’s ALSO the way we’ll experience our animal’s communication.
BOTH sides of Mental Feel – the clear feeling of rightness in our thoughts AND the worrying, the negative thoughts and catastrophic imagination are ALL just as valuable in communicating with our animal. And you’ll see how that works in the seminar when I start working with people.
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by and struggled with anxiety or dread, filled with anger or drowned in sorrow or shame or guilt, then you’ve experienced being STUCK in your Emotional Feel. When we use our emotions as the guidance that they really are – when we understand them – the stuckness disappears – then peacefulness and happiness, curiosity and willingness, excitement and joy becomes our predominant experience.
BOTH sides of Emotional Feel – the inner peace, happiness, curiosity, excitement and joy AND emotions like fear, anger, frustration, sadness and grief – are ALL ways that our animals communicate with us. And you’ll see how easy it is to change the crappy feelings when I start working with people in the seminar.
If Physical Feel is one of your strengths in feeling, then it’s going to knock your socks off when you get a handle on using it as the guidance it is. I’ve worked with so many people in pain and discomfort and even illness where the entire health problem has been a misunderstood guidance system and the healing was dramatic and sometimes instantaneous because of it.
BOTH sides of Physical Feel are valuable to us. Physical feelings of tension, discomfort, pain, illness, restricted breathing, rapid and / or irregular heartbeat are just as important in terms of our Inner Guidance as the feelings of physical well being that I’ve described in the picture.
This is sooo important, because we tend to think of pain and discomfort and stiff, uneasy movement as things to get rid of – and I get it, that we DO want to get rid of them.
But we want to UNDERSTAND them as well. We want to hear / feel the MESSAGE first. Because when we get that message, that tension / those feelings are released – sometimes “pffft!” THAT fast, then our bodies can start healing the way they were designed.
Yeah it’s THAT big…
BOTH sides of Physical Feel are ways in which our animal can and will communicate with us. Physical tension, discomfort, pain, illness, restricted breathing, rapid and / or irregular heartbeat – these are just as important a part of communication as is our easy breathing, regular heartbeat and all the angles of our body working together to create a smooth movement. And yeah, if you’ve not come across this before, you’ll get your socks knocked off in this seminar.
Energy Feelings are harder to describe in words. Think of a school of fish who all turn at exactly the same time – they’re flowing with the group energy. Or a flock of birds who find their way to places they’ve never been to before – they’re following their Energy Feel. Horse riders who’ve experienced the magic of One-ness with their horse will often describe a circular energy flowing between horse and rider – when that’s part of your natural talent you can use that energy flow in your communication with your horse. There’s a whole group of people like artists and musicians for example, who tend to have Energy Feel as a natural strength – they experience what they’ll often describe as a beautiful flow in their work.
If Energy Feel is one of our strengths, then the other side is just as important in our communication – the stuck energy, the blocked energy, the stagnant, even the explosive energy – ALL of these have messages for guiding us, that are just as powerful as the thoughts and ideas Mental Feel, or the fear, frustration etc of Emotional Feel and the tension pain and discomfort of Physical Feel.
Those with a natural talent in Energy Feel, will experience their communication with their animal with energy. That will include noticing the flow of energy in themselves or between themselves and their animals AND the other side, noticing the stuck, blocked, stagnant or explosive energy. I love it when people who’ve been struggling with lack of energy, exhaustion, even explosive reactions, get to understand that it’s “just” their Energy Feel at work and when they understand it – pfft! it’s flowing again.
When Heart Feel is someone’s natural strength, then there’s a NATURAL inclination to look behind someone’s behavior and actions to notice what’s REALLY going on. These people are easily into unconditional love and because they know deeply in their hearts what’s really going on with someone else, they tend to not get stuck in judgement and the blame that follows that stuckness. The effect of that unconditional love and the lack of judgement and blame melts defensiveness and resistance in others. I’d say that Heart Feel brings out the best in others, except that the “best in others” always existed and is available to all of us no matter what our natural talents for feeling. Animals love it.
In the extreme of the other side of Heart Feel, people with this natural strength can almost literally feel their hearts being torn apart with anguish and despair.
There’s a phenomenal strength in the gentleness of Heart Feel when it’s in balance – an ability to change our world and the world around us. When your Heart Feel is used to look BEHIND the circumstances, the problem, the blame and the judgement to see what’s REALLY going on – about EVERYthing – then expansive understanding and unconditional love is the result. Unconditional love for self and others becomes the predominant experience and anguish and despair gets less and less.
Like the other feelings, BOTH sides of Heart Feel are just as important as each other in their guidance and both sides of Heart Feel are fundamental to our ability to joyfully create something better and change something that we care about.

Heart Feel is sooo… much bigger than the simple heart felt “awww” at such cuteness as this – it’s UNconditional love that’s experienced easily when we understand what’s going on behind even the snarling dog’s behavior.
When Heart Feel is part of your natural talent, BOTH sides are just as important in your communication with your animal – they’ll feel your unconditional love in your willingness to look behind the circumstances or their behavior and you’ll feel theirs. They’ll communicate their anguish and despair too
For those of us who don’t have Heart Feel as a strong natural talent (and I certainly didn’t) then judging others or even ourselves in a way that evaluates what’s going on, is a useful thing to do. It’s when we’re unaware of, or unwilling to look for what’s REALLY going on behind what we’re looking at and when we’re STUCK in judgement and then blame – that’s when it starts getting in the way of us creating what we want and what we care about and then that gets in the way of our communication.
Now here’s the big deal for those who are new to this.
When you understand the communication, when you understand your animal, when you understand WHY you are feeling that crappy Feeling in your body – then pfft! it disappears.
And it’s THAT simple…
