Almost every horse rider learned to ride a horse by bouncing around making mistakes and creating tension in our bodies – which turned out to be NOT the best way of going about learning to ride.
We have discovered a way to not only teach beginners to ride with the beautiful flowing confidence of a child, but to RELEASE those not useful tensions that were programmed into our rider’s bodies over the years.
I was recently privileged to take my 57 year old sister, a complete beginner rider, on a journey to find joyfulness with a horse.
I had my camera with me, so I captured some of the magic that happened over those three days.
There are 4 videos that show this revolutionary way that beginner riders can learn to ride. 2 of the videos are of Kris preparing for and then having her first sit on a horse and because she was only visiting here for Easter and didn’t get a chance to do some of the next steps that I do with beginner riders, I have added links to two other videos for this Novice Rider Series.
So make sure you watch all 4 videos.
Kris will get to do those other steps next time – and because of the way we have programmed that lovely, stable and relaxed riding position into her muscle memory, each time she visits, she will just drop automatically into that riding position.
This is my background as an alternative therapist meeting sports psychology at it’s best.

Learning how to find a strong, safe and secure riding position and programming that into your muscle memory WITHOUT the horse first, is the key to our great success with Fast Track.
Novice Rider Series Video 2
I was busy with Kris for the actual sitting on the horse part at the end of this video and dearest husband was wandering all over the place with the video, so we only have a little bit of that footage that was fit to watch. Bless him!
Novice Rider Series Video 3
Horses and grown up people miss out on so much of the magic that children get to experience with their ponies – magic that gives them a strong bond and confidence with their horse. With this program you will feel the joy of being with horses that children do, and as a beginner, you will have none of the nervousness and resistance that builds up over the years from other methods of training.

Novice Rider Series Video 4
This video takes that beautiful, confident riding position out to your horse in such a way that you learn how to ground into your feet and flow into your horse’s movement easily.
Almost every horse rider learned to ride by bouncing around making mistakes and that created tension in our bodies that for a whole heap of us, never left us. And in hindsight, it was NOT the best way of going about learning to ride. (That is some of my dry Aussie understatement there!)
When we do this lesson in our online course Fast Track to Brilliant Riding, we also use it as a way to RELEASE some of the tensions that we developed over the years as advanced riders.
You get to feel REALLY secure with all the tiny movements first, learning how to keep that lovely seat that you developed off your horse, even improving your position before you go into the bigger movements of the walk.
I learned to ride as an adult, I struggled and I never got a really good physical feel for my horse under saddle until this exercise. Learning to ride like this makes it seem like a piece of cake instead of the struggle that I and so many others have had.

Where To From Here?
I originally wrote our online program Fast Track to Brilliant Riding to help advanced riders find confidence and to help their horse to become a confident, happy and willing partner and then I noticed that we had also created what I believe is the best novice riders’ program available.
In Fast Track to Brilliant Riding, we have created a step by step journey for riders to get confidence and competence with routine horse handling, to get confidence and competence with riding right from the beginning – and if you are any kind of a beginner rider, without taking all the years it usually takes, you will soon be riding as if you have been riding for many years.
If you asked me as a novice rider what kind of investment was going to bring you most benefit with your horse? Then I would say Fast Track without hesitation – it’s that big… Because it helps you to develop the kind of confidence and security in the saddle that usually only VERY advanced riders have.
