I can’t tell you how often I’ve heard an instructor tell a gentle horse person “get effective!” That usually meant get bigger, smack the horse harder, drive them forwards, escalate the energy – do whatever it takes and get VERY determined to get a result.
The result of that escalation is a horse with tension that limits their athletic ability to give you what you want, a confused horse, an anxious horse or a horse who is resisting us. All of which is the opposite of a happy rider on a happy horse.
There’s two things that make it possible to be both gentle and effective at the same time:
- A deep knowing of the inside of the horse – Feel – is the key to being both gentle AND effective. If you haven’t seen our free video series called The Key to the Kingdom of Horses that introduce you to Feel, there’s a link below.
- A deeply connected to your horse, magnetic, sucked into the saddle riding seat enables a togetherness and a whole new level of communication that most riders only get to dream of – that you’re literally guaranteed to get in our on-line clinic starting next week.
