Understanding ourselves and others easily, starts with the simple desire to know what that feeling is telling you about yourself or someone else. The curiosity generated by that, is enough all by itself, to set the answer in motion. It’s THAT simple.
Every ahaa moment that floats in later, every knowing, every expansion of energy, every understanding of ourselves and another, generates more and more ease for next time.
Pretty soon you’ll find that the ahaa moments start sliding into your conscious awareness in the very moment that you notice the feeling.
But what about when it DOESN’T come easily? When I get overwhelmed?
I created a habit of making space for the ahhaaa moments of knowing to flow, so that there was already a pattern created when I got overwhelmed. You can do it with super simple meditations like the Quiet Mind with my reiki healing grid, or listen to a long chant by Deva Premal & Miten (google their Gayantri Mantra with its thousands of years of beautiful energy – chanting with them also regulates your breath and reduces overwhelm.) Or you can cultivate a habit of falling asleep with something on your mind and waking up in the morning with the understanding that you’re looking for.
Some of us need to be doing something in movement in order to create the “room” in our brain for that ahhaaa moment to float to the surface of our mind. You can make a conscious and thoughtful decision that you want to know why you’re feeling this feeling and do a little dance around the room (oh so you think I’m joking?) or take the dog for a walk or get out in nature.
You can meditate at home in a chair, or with a horse (they are sooo good at helping us with that!) or sitting under a tree. One time when I desperately needed to slow my brain down, I had a whopping ahhaaa moment when I was reading a book.
Keep your eyes open for ways which work for YOU and then cultivate the habit.
By now I don’t think I need to suggest a live event hey?
This photo is of Julie’s gorgeous little Lyla who gets out and about everywhere while she house-sits and travels. Dogs and cats too have the ability to help us with overwhelm by creating the relaxation that allows us the space in our brain for the understanding to flow.
