Now we’re getting to the imaginative problem solving of our Mental Feel. I’ve said before, that our happiness and our ability to create and change the things we care about depends on us understanding our connection to others. If you don’t know the truth or not of this yet, your curiosity about it will have already set that truth to unfolding for yourself and this exercise may be the key.
Think about that thing that you care about that you chose to work on when we talked about Physical, Emotional and Energy feelings
I’m taking this opportunity to remind you that each of us has our unique experience of Feeling – with one or more ways of feeling being stronger than others and all of us different and no matter how much we admire someone else’s way of working, our way, our inner self, our natural talent is the guidance to the things that we care about creating or changing. How someone else does this feeling stuff is of no use to us in the creating department.
So let’s explore how much Mental Feel is part of your natural talent.
While you’re reading, slow down and read the following words slowly and deliberately.
Pay gentle attention to your outward breath for a few breaths.
That’s it… feel me smiling… reading sloooowwww…. and at the same time notice the way that the lower part of your ribs move on that outward breath – the way that the ribs just kind of squash the air from your lungs. And you’re not doing that on purpose, you’re just smiling a little bit and noticing for one breath…
… and another breath…
… and another breath…
Still with your gentle attention on your outward breath, notice what changes on the inside of you when you smile with your eyes just a little at the idea of doing this with me again. Ahhh even after three exercises like this, you can still feel the difference with the smile hey? Just notice the effect of that smileyness for a breath.
… and another breath…
… and another breath…
Yes it’s just noticing and curiosity we’re looking for again.
Now … think about that thing that you care about and notice what changes in your body and your mind.
Smiling a little on that outward breath, just curious about whatever changes within your body and mind as you’re thinking about this thing that you care about.
You’re already open to the idea that what you’re feeling may not be yours. You may not know this as a truth yet, but you’re curious as to whether that’s true or not.
You already have the Magic Questions tucked in the back of your mind and curiosity is all you need, to start moving through this change place with them. “Whose feeling is it? Whose thoughts and ideas, whose worrying, whose catastrophizing, negative imagination is this? What do I need to know or do about it? For myself? For or about someone else?
If you catch yourself frowning you’re trying too hard. Breathe and smile with curiosity about whatever comes up as you allow your mind to wander around this thing that you care about.
You’ll know when the job’s done, because “pffft” the feeling, the worry, the negativity thoughts will have just disappeared, that fast and you’ll experience how you feel when you get the right message and the right understanding.
Smiling a little and noticing that outward breath…
and another…
… as you notice any changes in your body and your mind, be curious about “whose is it and what do I need to know or do about any worries, any thoughts and ideas that may be coming up?”
Smiling a little and breathing out with a sigh….
There’s gold at the bottom of even the most negative thoughts, so notice them too… Smiling and curious about “What might that gold be?” flowing with them and noticing them. Just curious, because the answers and the understanding and the problem solving will flow just from the curiosity itself.
Smiling and breathing and curious…
Knowing that when we understand our own and someone else’s worries or negative thoughts or what’s behind their catastrophizing imagination, then the sheer power to create or change what we care about is going to knock your socks off. Are you curious about the truth or not of that?
Smiling a little and still noticing that outward breath and curious about whatever’s going on in your mind…
Ahhhh and smiling for just another breath…
… just curious and another breath…
… and another…
When you’re done noticing all those thoughts and feelings that changed when you thought about this thing that you’re creating or changing, give yourself a little shake and another smile.
Congratulations, those curiosities have set you moving through your change place with whatever Mental Feel is your natural talent. The answers to the questions, the ahaa moments, the understanding or yourself and others and the creative problem solving ideas are on their way.
Stand up, have a wriggle and a stretch and maybe even a walk around the room, feeling the way that your feet are flexing through their whole range of motion as you walk. You might think this exercise was too simple and short to be powerful, but don’t be surprised if you hear the sound of joints realigning and keep your mind open to notice what thoughts and ideas pop into your mind and what changes around you!
I’ve opened up the comments on this page for you.
So you can ask questions if you have any and share your experience with others.
